Anthology of Interest

I came across a link to whatacrappypresent.org on some guy's blog. It's pretty funny. The sort of parent site, downhillbattle.org has info about fighting back against the RIAA etc. Now the Canadian version is getting involved and SOCAN want to levy ISP's too. It's getting kind of ridiculous.

The funny thing is, according to the Canadian copyright board, downloading is legal in Canada, because we pay a levy on media, and now, mp3 players. Uploading is still not legal, but if SOCAN gets its way with the ISP levy, we all might as well upload and download to our hearts content, since they assume we are all criminals and tax us for it anyway. I doubt it will actually go through though, because ISPs will probably end up having common carrier status, like telephone companies. AFAIK, that means they aren't responsible for content.

Bruce Campbell as Elivs? Groovy. Bubba Ho-tep has won lots of film festival awards. Might be interesting. Maybe it will be at Cinecenta...

A couple of things I want software wise:

• Right click on a launcher in Nautilus and have an option to edit the launcher properties, like name and icon! I can't believe Nautilus is deficient in this.
• A good way to edit menus in Nautilus
• I want to be able to plugin my camera and have a nautilus window pop up with thumbnails and a box that prompts about downloading the images.
• Maybe one can already do this, but right click images in Nautilus or gThumb and get a mailto option.
• A thing that can send me reminders and stuff, especially if it can use Jabber and email to send them. Some sort of super calendar. With multiple front ends, like web and a GNOME app....

So get to work already!
