Tamara and I picked up our new car this evening, a 2006 Mazda6
Sport in Onxy Black. After a bit of running around to get the plates,
we took it for a drive out to Cochrane, ostensibly to get some ice
cream. The ride is great, the steering is tight and smooth, there is
no shaking going on at any speed over 100 km/h. Power delivery is good,
although it is a little low on torque until it is wound up a bit. It's
a lot easier to get up to 120 or more without really realizing it, so
I'll have to be more careful...
We did end up having ice cream at Mackays, which was pretty
good. Then we drove back in the dusk. By the time we got back to our
house, it was dark, which gave us a chance to experience some of the
cool things about this car. When I turned off the engine in the
garage, the interior lights came up. When we opened our doors, Tamara
noticed that there was a light shining on the ground so you could see
what you were about to step in. There's probably lots of other little
things to be discovered.
It's nice to have the car buying out of the way now. Here's hoping
that it ages well.
I've finally gotten around to updating my picture section... a lot of stuff has been happening but I had to get Matt to set up the account and teach me how to use the ftp client he put on my computer so I could put photos on the server we're using now (ho
