World’s Largest Supercollider Could Destroy the Universe. Note that the alarmist quote is from a software developer, who probably didn't have to take Particle Physics I, and probably isn't the best person to make statements about the destruction of the universe.

It's a grad student! They're quoting a grad student!

So he could have taken a particle physics course, but he also could be one of those grad students from other faculties that are just in the physics department for the engineering and computer science stuff that goes along with the experiment. In any case, I'm going to put him down in the "probably doesn't know what he's talking about" category.
